Senior lecturers Heli Tooman and Melanie Smith attended an international ATLAS conference
Senior lecturers Heli Tooman (PhD) and Melanie Smith (PhD) of the University of Tartu Pärnu College attended an international ATLAS conference Tourism, Travel and Leisure – Sources of Wellbeing, Happiness and Quality of Life in Budapest 22 –25 October 2014. Heli Tooman and Melanie Smith made a presentation „Towards a Baltic Health Tourism Cluster.“
Amongst the conference speakers there was also Josée-Ann Cloutier, a Master’s student in the Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management degree program, who presented primary research on „The Community Experience in Group Retreat“ as exploratory grounds for her thesis. Just a couple of weeks ago Josée-Ann took part in the ISPA conference in Las Vegas to receive the 2014 Mary Tabacchi Scholarship. Two recipients were awarded the scholarship out of the 17 applicants.
During the ATLAS conference one could visit a display of tourism-related books by Routledge Publishing introducing a brand-new book“Wellness Tourism. A destination perspective.” Amongst the co-authors of the book there are three lecturers of the international Master’s degree programme – Melanie Smith, László Puczko and Tom Baum.
