Post-graduate students present research results on Estonian spas to Enterprise Estonia
Students of the Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management Master’s programme of Pärnu College, presented outcomes of research commissioned by the Estonian Tourist Board of Enterprise Estonia. The research was supervised by Dr László Puczkó, Associate Professor of Tourism Marketing.
The research examined the necessity for, and the readiness of Estonian spas to apply for the international quality certificates initiated by the European Spas Association. There are two categories of EuropeSpa quality certificate – EuropeSpa med and EuropeSpa wellness.
The research methodology included both interviews with industry experts and document analysis. While interviewees valued the EuropeSpa quality and certificate and expressed a high degree of appreciation for it they perceived no actual need to implement the system in Estonia since the country already has an established quality assessment programme for both medical and wellness spas.
The issue will be explored further as the Estonian Tourism Board will continue consultations with representatives of the Estonian Health Tourism Cluster and the Estonian Spa Association.
