Target Group and Goals

Pärnu College, University of Tartu - together with the Department of Business at the University of Tartu - offer full-time workers the opportunity to complete higher-education programs in the business field in the Open University.  The goal of the program is to provide students with an academic business background and experience in specific business situations in positions both in the public and private sectors.

After completing the program it is possible to continue with specialization courses which enable the student to obtain a master’s degree.

                                                                                           

Course Content


The program consists of 120 credit points.  The training is divided into required, directed and specialized courses.  In addition there are elective modules and courses.  The courses finish with either an exam or course work, or the defence of a bachelor’s thesis.

The beginning of the study period consists of courses dealing with general knowledge from many areas (business, law, sociology) and also lays a foundation for the development of business knowledge. 
Directed studies will allow for more thorough study in business, and the specifics of different departments will be discussed - particularly focusing on enterprise businesses.  Specialized schooling focuses on finances and business calculations as well as the specifics of management and marketing. 
Along with the theoretical aspects of the program, practical aspects are also used during the course of everyday study.  Students have the option of picking elective courses from all University of Tartu programs.  For example, the elective courses could include a foreign language or business informatics.
